Brownstown First Baptist Church recently announced the calling of Darrin R. Wan as pastor.
The Bowling Green, Kentucky, native has been serving as interim pastor at the church for several months.
Wan has been in the ministry in Kentucky and Indiana since 1992. He has served in various ministries, including youth and children, senior adult, music/worship and teaching/preaching.
He graduated from Western Kentucky University and attended seminaries in Louisville, Kentucky and Lithonia, Georgia.
Wan, who grew up in Louisville, and his wife, Tanyika, have three children, Cameron (Alex) Gullion, Alex (Kaitlin) Wan and Marcus Wan, an elementary student at Grace Christian Academy.
The couple have served in various locations in southern Indiana area since 2001. He also is a full-time faculty member at the Sellersburg campus of Ivy Tech Community College, where he is the program chairman for the dental assisting program.
Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, church services had been suspended since March, but due to the Gov. Eric Holcomb’s recent easing of regulations, regular services resumed Sunday with social distancing practices. Services also are available on the church’s Facebook page.
The church is located on State Road 135 one and a half miles south of Brownstown.
