The Colors of Advent Sermon Series (Christmas 2024)

This series will bring the Advent message to life in a colorful way. By using different colors traditionally associated with Christmas, we explore key spiritual truths about the arrival of Christ over 2000 years ago. Each color will tell a part of the story on Christ’s coming, His love, sacrifice, and the hope and victory that we can have in Him.

  • Green is the color of Life and Hope
  • White is the color of Purity and Peace
  • Red is the color of Sacrifice and Love
  • Gold is the color of Redemption and Joy

RED – The Color of Sacrifice and Love

    Our LOVE Is From God

Focus: We see the fullness of God’s love in both the incarnation of Christ in the manger as well as in the ultimate sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Both lead us to consider the purpose of His coming as a man.

Application: We are to consider how Christ's birth is inseparable from His death. This love He demonstrated should transform how we live and love others in both the incarnation of Christ in the manger as well as in the ultimate sacrifice of Christ on the cross. Both lead us to consider the purpose of His coming.

    John 3:16 and 1 John 4:9-10

GOLD – The Color of Joy and Redemption

    Our JOY is in Salvation

Focus: We honor Christ as the true Light who has come into the world. His light drives out darkness and bring salvation to all who are called to believe.

Application: The joy of Christmas is found in our redemption. Christ’s coming gives us cause to celebrate with unshakable joy. Christ’s light shines in and through us as we carry the hope of the gospel to others.
