Walking In The Light Sermon Series (Beginning 2025)

A Journey Through 1 John

The epistle (letter) of 1 John was written by the apostle John, one of the twelve disciples called by Jesus, and one of the three in the ‘inner circle’ along with his brother James and Peter. John was the only one of the disciples that lived to an old age, and he served as the overseer to the church in Ephesus as well as the other churches in Asia Minor.

The book of 1 John has relationships as a central focus – both the Believer’s relationship with God and our relationship with other Believers. In this letter, John tells us the truth about relationships and shows us how to have fellowship with God as well as other Believers that are real – for both now and for eternity.

Here are some thoughts/ questions for us to think about as we prepare to study this verse:

  • What does it mean to “walk in the light” in the context of your daily life?
  • How does walking in the light affect your relationship with God and others?
  • Are there areas in your life where you are not walking in the light?
  • How can you deepen your fellowship with other believers?
  • How does the truth of Christ’s cleansing blood give you confidence before God?
